Rosemary Walker, Artist, Edinburgh

BIOGRAPHY

Rosemary Walker

Rosemary Walker trained at Leith School of Art completing full time courses in Foundation, Painting and Contemporary Art Practice also many other short courses both at LSA and elsewhere.

In her work she uses a wide variety of media and disciplines and is particularly interested in the interactions between found objects, man and nature - such as weathering, chemicals, unusual juxtapositions. The unexpectedness of the results both excite and motivate her.

Rosemary Walker’s current interest focuses mainly on metal - brass and copper which she patinates and rusty iron from which she prints and develops sculptural forms. Also mixed papers with which the garden snails collaborate with her to create unusual surfaces!

She has exhibited with the Visual Arts Society in the RSA and the City Art Centre, the Edinburgh Arts Club, Doubtfire Gallery, Dundas Street Gallery, Patriot Hall Gallery amongst others. She works from a studio at Coburg House, Edinburgh.

Before taking up art, Walker trained as a nurse and still practices as a Kinesiologist.
